Rants

I’m officially disgusted.

That hasn’t really changed much since Nov. 4, mind you, but things just keep going downhill. What isĀ  happening in the world? What is happening in my country?

The only good news is that Saxby Chambliss won his run-off for Senate in Georgia. I’ll take that. The bad news is that this absolute idiot Al Franken ran for senator in Minnesota against the perfectly qualified, wonderful and dignified Norm Coleman, who was the incumbent. Some other yahoo also ran, making it a three-way race (in case you haven’t heard), and since Coleman failed to win a majority of the vote (though he won the election) that also went to a run-off.

Well, the idiot Al Franken (disgusting comedian with absolutely no experience, who enjoys degrading women and is atrocious in many other ways) was behind in the long, drawn-out process of the recount. But suddenly he started picking up votes. Then he started picking up more votes. And more. More. More. Today he’s finally ahead (magically) by more than 250 votes — very strange when you consider that HE LOST initially and HE LOST in the run-off but demanded a recount. A recount in which in suddenly started picking up votes, while Norm Coleman lost them. Very suspicious, but then he also had Obama stumping for him, and ACORN, so anything is possible, evidently. Some of Coleman’s ballots disappeared, while Franken gained some. In any case, the Dems seem poised to get yet another senator.

John Cornyn, from my home state of Texas, is vowing a fillibuster should Franken (the pig) be seated. Coleman is threatening lawsuits, but so is the idiot Franken. I’m not holding out much hope for Coleman, sadly.

In unrelated news, the Dallas Cowboys didn’t even make it to the playoffs. Dang it. My one bright spot might be tonight when Texas plays Ohio (though it’s hard to get too excited about a game when you don’t even dislike the team you’re playing against). Yeah, that was the other bad news: Colt McCoy was ROBBED of the Heisman. Sam Bradford totally did not deserve to win over Colt. Not saying Bradford can’t play ball, but he’s no match for Colt (WE BEAT OU) or Tim Tebow. All I can say to that (besides WE BEAT YOU, SOONERS! 45-35, REMEMBER THAT), is I HOPE YOU BECOME GATOR BAIT during the National Championship. Only Big 12 team I hope loses. I even rooted for Tech, and that was tough.

On to more serious matters (obviously I haven’t written over the holidays, so I’m jumping around here). Israel. What’s up with the whole world acting like Israel is a big bully for launching a defense against Gaza? Let me correct myself — Israel is PROTECTING itself against HAMAS, which is a terrorist group. And it has every right to do so. Israel doesn’t have to ask permission from anyone to do protect itself. If you have a problem with this and feel sorry for the people in Gaza, take a look at a freakin’ map.

OK. You looked at the map? Found Israel? It’s that tiny little country surrounded by Arab countries that HATE it and want to DESTROY it. They want to WIPE it off the face of the earth.

These are not nice people. Don’t feel sorry for suicide bombers. They may come after you one day. In fact, you can pretty much bet they would if given half a chance. They don’t like Americans, either. Are innocent people getting hurt? I’m sure they are. Are they in Isreal? You betcha. Are they in Gaza? Probably so. War is ugly, people. If you don’t want it at your front door, don’t bring it to a country like Israel. I stand behind them, with them, and beside them.

On the topic of standing with Israel, I don’t think we can expect the same out of our incoming administration. I seem to remember his famous words, “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds turn ugly,” or something to that effect. OK, we know where his loyalties are. No big secret there. Maybe he’s changed his mind, and maybe he hasn’t. Maybe he was only referring to 9/11 (in which case his words were at the least in very bad taste, considering the fact that our country had just been attacked by Islamic terrorists). Maybe he just likes Muslims better.

I don’t pretend to understand him at all. I just know that he surrounds himself with crooks and liars and seems to always have an excuse handy. Rezko? Didn’t know him that well. Blago? Wasn’t involved. Now there’s his good buddy, Bill Richardson, who delivered the Hispanic vote and was rewarded with Secretary of Commerce post, which he’s now had to turn down. Why? Well, we don’t really know because the media hasn’t said much about it. Playing it down. No Obama drama. But it has something to do with Richardson taking dirty deals as Governor of New Mexico. And another one bites the dust. Governor of Illinois (Blago). Governor of New Mexico, Richardson. And let’s not forget his “best” endorsement, former Senator John Edwards, he of the dying wife and sex scandal. I won’t even bother with Ayers or any of Obama’s other pals, because no one seems to really care.

For just a second let’s turn this around and pretend it was Governor Sarah Palin accused of doing whatever Richardson did. I think it would be splashed across the front page of every major newspaper and be the top story on every morning “news” show. Heck, Governor Palin is exonerated of all charged and you barely here a peep about it. But if she is accused of something? You bet it would be news. No glossing over that. Good thing Palin is tough and can handle it, but it’s still media bias, no matter how you cut it.

Of course, we still have 15 days until Obama takes office (and trust me, on Jan. 20 I will keep my television set OFF all day — I don’t want to chance catching a glimpse of that). But he is already acting like he’s in charge, and no one seems to mind. He’s held more press conferences than any -elect to be, and he’s pushing through a “stimulus” package that he wants the senate to vote on and have ready for him to sign as soon as he takes office. In fact, more than a week ago I got a “breaking news” alert from the usually reliable Politico.com that referred to him not as “president-elect” but that left out the “elect” completely. I had to wonder if we’d time traveled and President George W. Bush was already gone or if I was living a nightmare and he’d been sworn in early. Now, I never voted for W, but I much prefer him over Obama so please, keep him around as long as possible. I’m not ready to go socialist.

I’m sure I could continue ranting, but that’s probably enough for today. Let’s all hope for a Longhorn victory tonight and at least things in Texas will be looking good. Cornyn, you made me proud. I’m still pulling for Kay Bailey Hutchison in her fun for governor (see my previous post), and I love my representative, Congressman John Carter, 31st District.

How to sum up this post? Let’s see:

I’m disappointed in the Dallas Cowboys, but hope for a better season next year.

I stand behind, beside, and with Israel. Don’t mess with this country, for it WILL retaliate, and with good reason. I’ll post video of it tomorrow (if I’m not too busy celebrating or mourning over UT — but I will get to it — very important). Gaza and Hamas = terrorists.

Obama has managed to land in a pile of poop yet again, but somehow no one cares. Well, I care, and I know others like me do. But the majority of people don’t pay attention. Oh, and we are probably stuck with that idiot, Franken, when Norm Coleman clearly won. Can you spell F-R-A-U-D?

Finally, don’t forget: The Eyes of Texas Are Upon You…Hook ‘Em!

Good post. I feel the same about pretty much all you said. This FrankenFraud thing has me almost as upset as seeing the millions of Americans who were duped by Obama. Hopefully, the criminal behavior behind Franken’s extra votes will be uncovered.

But there’s nothing that can be done about Obama’s campaign chicanery. We’ll just have to ride this one out and hope the other half of America wises up before socialism gains a greater foothold in our country.

Oh, and GO GATORS!

We should be standing behind Isreal no matter what. And we should involve them in any Middle East policy, especially if there is combat. They are about the only real friend we have in the region.

As for Texas and Ohio State, I would love to see Texas win, if not for anything else, because Ohio State is Michigan’s bitter rival. There is no bowl game that will ever be bigger than Michigan-Ohio State when both teams are playing well. And there have been several classic contests through the years, especially when Bo Schembechler and Woody Hayes went at it.

I still believe Tebow deserved the Heismann, but I would not have had any problem with McCoy winning it. I just feel that Bradford is overrated and a beneficiary of an offensive juggernaut.

And, finally, I close with this: I will not see the movie “Valkarye” or any other movie starring Tom Cruise again. I am very upset with his repeated, ignorant attacks on the mentally ill.

Sorry I spelled Israel wrong. But I think we should be supporting them in their efforts against terror, and should have invited them to join in the fight against Saddam Hussein, and should definitely invite them to join if we have to fight Iran. We owe it to them to get them fully engaged on both the diplomatic and military fronts. With our help, they could defeat just about anyone in the region.

Thank you Texas! You went a long way to relieve what was a huge stench for Michigan’s uncharacteristic losing season. The reason I liked Tebow, and also like McCoy, is because they make things happen. Bradford appears to me to be a beneficiary of an offense that makes big plays - he is more of a game manager. And did all of you see how they exposed Terelle Pryor, the most highly touted freshman quarterback, for his inability to pass? I felt Ohio State was most effective when they used Pryor as a slash, much like Cordell Stewart used to be with the Pittsburgh Steelers. I don’t see Pryor being any more than that. He is like Mike Vick (just for comparison’s sake, I think what he did with those dogs was despicable) - great runner, poor passer.

I never thought I would be saying this, but I have to agree with Troy Aikman when the Cowboys played the Eagles in the final game of the season. Aikman said that Tony Romo was trying to make plays for his team (the reason he coughed up a fumble), but was not getting much help from anyone else. Unfortunately, that’s the way it’s always been with this team - great individual talent, but not always functioning as a team. When former Green Bay Packers great from the Lombardi era, Herb Adderley, was finishing his career with Dallas, he told Paul Hornung, which Hornung later mentioned in his book “Golden Boy”, that the Cowboys all went their separate ways after practice and games, and never hung together. He said that lack of togetherness is what kept the Cowboys from beating Lombardi’s Packers. When I read that, and saw the Cowboys-Eagles game, it just jumped out at me. Hornung was Mr. Everything with Green Bay - he was the left halfback who ran, passed and caught for touchdowns, kicked field goals and extra points, and actually did the punting as well. He set a single-season NFL record for scoring, and IMHO, was the greatest all-purpose back in NFL history. His record stood until a couple seasons ago when LaDanlien Tomlinson broke it. But Tomlinson did not have Hornung’s all-around capability. And Hornung was the only Heismann winner for a losing team when he won at Notre Dame.

Angry at Franken? Simple solution. Look forward to the hilarity that will be DC with grim terror. We’re going to be able to laugh with a big grin on our face while realizing its painful nonetheless. God willing, Coleman’s appeal will work and bring through a better solution.

Way to go, Florida! I knew they would win. This is why I felt Tebow should have gotten the Heismann - because he makes things happen! If he didn’t get it, Colt McCoy should have gotten it before Bradford. Florida showed that Bradford was a beneficiary of an offense, not someone who could make things happen. Did you see that great jump pass Tebow made for the final touchdown? He also does something I have never seen a college quarterback do - a triple option where he could pitch to the outside back, keep it himself, or do a shovel pass to someone coming free inside the line. And it that weren’t good enough, he could, if he had time, actually throw downfield from that play. I just like Tebow and McCoy better than Bradford. Florida deserved the championship, and I think Texas would have given them a better game than Oklahoma did.
